Pediatrics

We have had great success in working with babies to children for a broad range of health concerns. Since they are smaller and more sensitive, they react to smaller doses of stress and environmental toxins. Their bodies, however, heal much more quickly than adults. Furthermore, they most often do not have habits that are blocks to treatment as they are still in a process of exploring life without drawing rigid conclusions.

The most important consideration in working with pediatrics is the cultivation of a true relationship of trust. This requires respecting the child’s space and body wisdom, not overriding their comfort level, and moving at a pace that they can integrate (rather than overwhelming them). Once a deep trust is established, great progress is made in each healing session.

The techniques we use are very gentle and non-invasive. We work with the innate healing potential of every person so that there are no adverse effects from the treatment experience. As a result, our therapies are a wonderful avenue to explore before resorting to medications or more invasive procedures that can be very hard on little bodies, not to mention being significantly more costly. Grateful parents are often quite amazed when their child has a remarkable healing experience through the simple placement of healing hands.

Finally, hands-on therapies are a deeply nurturing experience ideally suited to working with these little ones who are often, unfortunately, terrified of doctors and medical spaces. In our space, however, we observe the opposite, so much so that our young patients often ask their parents when they will be returning for another session.

In general, in working with pediatrics we address common / seasonal illnesses, such as

  • Bedwetting
  • Coughing, Allergies and Asthma
  • Ear / sinus infections
  • Colds, Fevers and Flu
  • Colic / Digestive difficulties
  • Diarrhea / irritable bowel / constipation

And we are especially committed to early intervention in the treatment of developmental delays and brain dysfunction, including:

  • Autistic Spectrum Disorder (see the autism research page for more)
  • Behavioral and Learning Issues, such as Attention Deficit (/ Hyperactivity) Disorder
  • Pervasive Developmental Disorder
  • Dyslexia / speech disorders
  • Epilepsy / convulsive/seizure disorders
